Hey there, you had a post a while back about a particular artist whose work you liked a lot and drew upon from for your sketching practices. I've been trying to remember who that was for the longest time and I just can't seem to recall. So I guess my question is, would you mind sharing the artists you really dig that really drive your artistic stylings?
I’m just gonna stick this #ArtVsHero thing I did a while back in here because it pretty much encompasses the whole of what I look to when I’m feeling stuck.
Cory Loftis - The big one. The great-granddaddy of all influences on my work. He’s basically the biggest inspiration I’ve had in a long time. I adore the way this man paints, how he uses color, and moreover, how he uses lines and marks in his work that isn’t painted.
One to be careful about though, because there a lot of copycats out there who ape not only his style, but the content and flavor of his work, and I think that works against them in the long run.
Lois Van Baarle- Self-explanatory. I defy you to find an artist on the net who doesn’t know of Loish. Love how she uses color.
Garrett Hanna - Another big influence. Super adventurous with his shapes, isn’t afraid to go straight-up cartoony with his stuff even though he’s perfectly capable of painting more realistically. Another one whose color sense I admire.
Andrew Mar - A more recent discovery on my part. Inks like a fucking demon. Super dig his line work and his sense for values and composition.
Gil Elvgren- Got no qualms about calling this guy one of the best pinup painters of all time. For work that was ‘just’ cheesecake, he had some of the best storytelling short of Duane Bryers. What I love most is how his models looked like they were having fun, not just posing for the sake of being titillating.
Sarah Stone- Another color monster. Also really good at making ‘messy’ work that looks really put-together.
Creaturebox - Shapes. Shapes, shapes, shapes. Can’t stress enough how much I adore how much these guys mess around with shapes and proportions. There’s so much energy in their work, and I wish I could capture how fun it is to look at in my own stuff.
Yoshi Yoshitani - Really good with shapes, patterns and colors. Super clean, streamlined line work. Super in charge of her visual vocabulary, which is something I struggle eternally with.
Anyway, that was probably more answer than you were looking for, but, figured since I already did the work before, might as well flesh it out some more. Thanks for asking! 💜
I think we should all celebrate by taking a moment to appreciate Robert Pattinson’s attitude and I’m laughing so much right now.
JUST ALL THAT HE IS.

Imo judging Mo’s action in this chapter is kind of one-sided thought. Yes he always acting hash and rude toward He Tian and because of that, his reaction is totally normal and suit his characteristic. Only us as the reader would know what happen with He Tian, but to Mo is just another “He’s troll time” kind of stuffs. So dont ask him to suddenly care about He Tian it totally off his character. And all of those things is not the point of this chapter anyway so dont overthink the situation and ruin your enjoyment about this series. Please.
I recently got a small set of Japanese hi-pigment watercolours - 12 colours box made by Kuretake. This particular set is a selection of typically Japanese colours. I decided to test this set painting a scene based on a photo from a Japanese garden I visited recently. I was very positively surprised by the quality of the paints and will talk more about them in a video of the painting process. (I will upload it shortly when I find some time to edit it.)
